STRIPPING

High performance chemical stripping is used to remove any painted or plated surfaces in order to expose the metal and create and maintain a smooth surface.

GLASS BEAD AND SANDBLAST CLEANING

This process allows for deep pore cleaning of metal parts and evens out the surface in preparation for the next step, be it polishing, plating or applying baked-on paint.

REPAIR: DENT REMOVAL,
RESTORATION
AND WELDING

Some car parts have aged over time and need a lot of love to make them look like new, or even better than they did originally. We have the expertise and equipment to carry out all necessary repairs.

METAL POLISHING

Metal polishing consists of closing the pores of the metal and preparing it for the plating phase. In addition, during the plating process of high-end finishes, it is essential to polish thoroughly between every plating layer.

For aluminium, stainless steel and brass parts that do not require a plating finish, we are able to satin-brush or mirror-polish the surface. We use 36" wide Timesavers.

MASKING

In order to ensure a perfect fit during the installation phase, certain areas of particular parts must be rid of all plating. We take great care to ensure that any threaded holes, threads or critical areas are adequately masked.

Quality is not just about surface finish; at G.G Buffing & Plating inc., every step is important!

ELECTROPLATING

Electroplating is a complex process involving the successive application of thin layers of metal such as copper, nickel, chrome, black chrome or gold on metal parts, depending on the finish required, to prevent oxidation.

All parts are carefully polished, secured with copper wire and then dipped in alkaline and acidic solutions to cleanse the surface of any material that might interfere with the subsequent plating stages.

The polished parts are then dipped in plating solutions such as copper sulphate, nickel sulphate or chromic acid, where, using electric current, plating anodes are applied in thin layers to the exposed surfaces of the part.

These dipping steps follow the cycle required for plating, taking great care to rinse the parts thoroughly between each plating solution so as not to contaminate the next.

INSPECTION AND PACKAGING

All parts are carefully dismantled one by one, cleaned, and waxed with our very own GG liquid wax. All parts are then inspected carefully and packed appropriately.
In the event of non-conformity, all unsatisfactory parts are reworked until they meet the required quality.
